Catholic Women's League Membership
2024 CWL Membership - On November 18 and 19, 2023, membership fees will be collected in the parish hall (bar area). All current members are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to pay their membership fees for 2024. Fees can be paid by e-transfer, cheque and cash. The CWL of Mary, Mother of the Church invites all women, ages 16 years and older to consider becoming a member. There is much opportunity for growth in your faith, personal and leadership. Your fresh perspective would be welcomed.
Membership is established and maintained by payment of the annual membership fee of $45.00 with payment due before or by January 1 of each year.

Categories of Membership:General Membership A Catholic woman 16 years of age or over may become a member with voting privileges and with eligibility for office by election or appointment. Associate Membership A non-Catholic woman 16 years of age or over may become a member with voting privileges, but without eligibility for office by election or appointment.

General MeetingMeetings are held on the first Monday of each month some exceptions may apply.
The general meeting is held at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall at Mary Mother of the Church.
Join us for a night of fellowship and find your place in the League. Do you want to grow in your faith? We are open to ideas. for topics for discussion or presentations for our meetings. Is there a guest speaker that you are interested in? Are you interested in social justice issues? Come and explore the CWL council at Mary, Mother of the Church. PEROGY MAKING (November 2025):
The Catholic Women’s League extend a huge thank you to their members and parishioners who volunteered each day to work on the assigned perogy making tasks. Without the parishioners help
this would not be possible. The potatoes were peeled in record time and made into balls for the perogies. Approximately 300 dozen perogies were made. While working, volunteers enjoyed fellowship; good lunches and an opportunity to build community within the parish. There were a few new faces this year and they were warmly welcomed by everyone. This project is labour intensive, however, the time spent together was very rewarding.
PARISH JUBILLEE EVENT – SEEDS OF HOPE, Global Education Awareness event (November 2025):
The Catholic Women’s League was pleased to host this event on November 9. Attendees were able to share their education journey and answer quizzes on global and Canadian education facts and figures. This was definitely an interesting exercise. The guest speakers were from Gonzaga Middle School. “Gonzaga Middle School (GMS) provides an enhanced, holistic, Manitoba Education approved, co-educational, culturally sensitive middle school education to Grade 6-8 students from low-income families in the Point Douglas and North East Downtown neighbourhoods of inner-city Winnipeg. It uses the unique middle school educational framework and best practices from Jesuit Nativity model schools and the NativityMiguel Coalition of Schools, adapting them to the community served in Winnipeg.” Fifty percent of their funding comes from the government and operate on donations. The school day is 8:00 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. and all students are bussed. Meals are also provided to the students. The school provides uniforms, gym clothes and a laptop. The staff stay in touch with the students until age 25. Students can attend a summer camp at no cost. The school has a partnership with St. Paul, St. Mary’s and the University of Winnipeg and when pass the entrance requirements they are funded 100%. Information was also shared about Chalice. “Chalice is a Canadian, Catholic sponsorship organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable children in developing countries to complete their education.” Through the generosity and dedication of sponsors, etc., Chalice has helped almost 50,000 children grow up happy, healthy and on their way to a hopeful future. https://chalice.ca/CWL and K of C RUMMAGE SALE 2025

ZINNY DEEN SCHOLARSHIP
The Zinny Deen CWL Scholarship in the amount of $500.00.
- Offered by the Catholic Women's League for youth or mature students entering Red River College.
- Open to any registered parishioner or child of a registered parishioner who is active in the Mary, Mother of the Church community.

CWL PURSE PROJECT 2024
The CWL expresses their gratitude and appreciation to the parishioners of Mary, Mother of the Church for their time and generosity, which led to a successful, first 'Purse Project' during this Lenten season. The goal was to provide Willow Place with 50 purses and because of your generous contributions, 63 purses were filled and delivered to Willow Place on Thursday, March 21. May the Risen Lord continue to bring joy to you during this Lenten season.
PEROGIES - NOV 2023
The Catholic Women’s League of Mary, Mother of the Church extend a big thank you to everyone who volunteered with the perogy making project. Approximately 240 dozen perogies were made and customers were still left disappointed. A special thank you to two male youth and a male parishioner who were a tremendous help. The monies raised will go to support local charities and an offering to the church.
RED SAND PROJECT PRAYER WARRIORS - JUNE 2023
As a follow up to the Red Sand Project which was held last June to create awareness on human trafficking, Catholic Women’s League members of Mary, Mother of the Church have become prayer warriors. Members have been matched through a prayer bracelet with someone who has been a victim of human trafficking. These members will prayer for that person for one year as they journey on the healing path to recovery. Your continued prayers are invited.
